Join BEST Center members (Bob Clark, Jeryll McWhorter, Larry Chang) and others at the 2018 HVAC Excellence conference.

Are you going to the 2018 National HVACR Educators and Trainers Conference at the South Point Hotel in Las Vegas, March 26-28? This is the only conference created exclusively for HVACR instructors.

Be sure to look out for various BEST faculty, especially at our display booth and two breakout sessions “Current Developments in Commercial HVAC Instructional Lab Design” and “The ABC’s of BAS (Building Automation Systems).” BEST Manager Larry Chang, GPTC’s Jeryll McWhorter, and College of DuPage’s Bob Clark will be making these presentations and sharing insights into getting your programs ready for commercial and high-performance building operations education.

ABC’s of BAS (Building Automation Systems): Monday, March 26 from 3:15 PM to 4:45 PM
Digital controls are here to stay, and HVAC technicians need to know how they function and how they can be networked with computers to automate and track building systems. Such knowledge and skills have important consequences, both in terms of energy management and professional opportunities. This presentation will introduce: 1) BAS basics, 2) career pathways, 3) sample BAS coursework from college HVAC and BAS programs, and 4) recommended lab equipment.

Current Developments in HVAC Instructional Lab Design: Tuesday, March 27 from 8:00 AM to 9:45 AM
Community and technical colleges are using unique strategies to create labs and hands-on learning related to building performance. These range from tabletop trainers and smaller, well-planned building automation lab spaces to Living Labs incorporating existing campus equipment and facilities. This presentation will include video highlights so instructors can learn how these lab design concepts and goals connect with curriculum and student learning.

About the HVAC Excellence conference:
You are invited to join us for the 2018 National HVACR Educators and Trainers Conference. This is the only conference created exclusively for HVACR instructors. Instructors can attend knowing that the sessions are conducted by professionals who are involved in many aspects of the HVACR industry, including teaching, manufacturing, designing, and engineering.

This conference helps HVACR instructors: improve their understanding of the physics and theories needed for teaching, incorporate emerging technologies into the classroom, gain the knowledge to improve student outcomes, learn about new educational delivery methodologies, understand regulatory changes, and network with peers to discuss approaches for incorporating these technologies, methods and concepts into their own programs back home.
