On February 9, BEST Center will host the Silicon Valley Working Group from 11-12pm at Laney College Admin Building Room 850. The meeting will be followed by a tour of the Sandler Neuroscience Center, a 237,000 square foot, five-story Neurosciences Laboratory and Clinical Research Building in the UCSF Mission Bay Campus in San Francisco.
The tour is planned to be a behind-the-scenes view from the facilities director about how they use their BAS (Building Automation System) to manage the building’s performance. The director will share details about the building’s high-performance designs such as natural ventilation, radiant floors, daylighting, and indoor air quality. The laboratory facility is intended to produce 5.8 million pounds less of C02 per year than other similarly-sized laboratories.
