2015 Building Automation Systems Workshop IV: Controls and Lab Development

Attendees at Building Automation Workshop IV were hosted at the North American headquarters of Siemens’ Building Technologies Division. They heard about Siemens’ latest building automation control systems and products to better instruct students seeking a competitive edge in the field. College of DuPage also hosted faculty members on a tour of their instructional laboratories.
2015 Building Automation Systems Workshop III – Controls Hardware & Software Workshop
June 17 – 20, 2015 | Automated Logic Corporation Headquarters, Kennesaw, GA
BEST Center and Automated Logic Corporation (ALC) co-hosted an instructor workshop for 22 faculty members representing 20 different colleges. Topics included ALC System Fundamentals & Architecture, System Software, BACnet Basics, Introduction to EIKON, and classroom applications of such tools and resources to build the next generation of controls technicians.

2015 High-Performance Building Technician Education Workshop
January 7 – 10, 2015 | Lawrence Berkeley National Lab (LBNL) and Laney College, Oakland, CA
At LBNL, attendees learned about current building science research projects led by the Environmental Energy Technologies Division (EETD). Sessions ranged from advanced lighting controls, energy information systems, and indoor air quality to automated demand response and tour of FLEXLAB, a new testing facility. Meanwhile, discussions explored how such material could be integrated into coursework to support knowledge, skills development, and credentials of future high-performance building technicians.

2013 Sustainable Facilities Operations Workshop

This event featured MATC’s Sustainable Facilities Operations program and lab at the Center for Energy Conservation and Advanced Manufacturing (ECAM). Instructor Ted Wilinski and Dr. Joe Jacobsen, former ECAM director, led the sessions which also included presentations by industry representatives.
2013 Building Automation Systems Workshop

The BEST Center inaugurated its Instructor Workshop Series with this national event focusing on curriculum development in Building Automation Systems (BAS). Founder of GPTC’s degree program, Brian Lovell highlighted its start-up strategy and curriculum — the first to be offered at a community college. California Community Colleges Energy Efficiency & HVAC Symposium
March 20, 2009 | Laney College, Oakland, CA
On March 20, 2009, Laney hosted the first California Community Colleges Energy Efficiency and HVAC Symposium. 200 industry leaders, professionals, and educators – representing over 80 industry representatives, industry associations, community-based organizations, unions, university institutes, and high schools, 29 community colleges, and 10 regional and state-wide community college centers, participated in this successful day.
